Selected Artists...

NONVIOLENCE II me( Mother Earth)

Gandhi preached and practiced Non Violence to gain independence and
freedom for India from an external force.

Today we face a much greater threat by a far more dangerous one from
within – one that is non other then ourselves-mankind out on a path of
irreversible self – destruction.

Any relief along this path of annihilation can only come from us by
way of a sustained and concerted effort lead by way of life wherein
every living being walks talks breathes and practices Non Violence II
ecology.

NON VIOLENCE II is conceived as a platform a medium of communication
an opening to let loose a Non violent germ which will silently and
permanently house itself in the very thought forever suggesting
preservation, conservation, and there by recharge and rejuvenate.
Yusuf Meherally Centre has over the last five decades worked intensely
in areas of ecology and environment protection and feels that a
highlighter event would be a good tool to make the necessary impact of
driving home the message and spurring urgent action.

We believe that art has the proven ability to create movements and
stimulate creative dialogue hence the premier edition of NON VIOLENCE
II brings you 7 installations including the works of 4 international
artists from different parts of the world with their diverse natural
and cultural backgrounds to converge on a common platform hoping to
set a course towards creating a new era of reconciliation with nature.

Youth are the inheritors of the earth, we its trustees are the players
the catalysts the precipitants. The colour on the artists palette will
be the globally recognizable symbolisms that will be built through the
active involvement of the artists, thestudents and tribals, for
promoting the consciousness of natural environmental conditions.

In this case the venue and participants will be from the backward
tribes and the students from the bottom of the pyramid that are the
focus of the comprehensive rural development activities undertaken by
the Yusuf Meherally Centre a 50year old Voluntary Organization with a
Pan Indian presence in 9 states (YMC works in areas of Health
Education Women empowerment Village Industries Alternative energy
Organic farming etc through the medium of its deep and robust
